The Binghamton University wrestling team split a pair of duals against Brown and Harvard Saturday afternoon in Vestal. The Bearcats dropped a narrow 19-14 matchup with Brown before prevailing 20-18 over Harvard. Prior to the second match against the Crimson, the program honored seniors Nunzio Crowley, Jason Javier, Kevin Kelly, Anthony Sparacio and Dylan Wood.

Highlights

• In the Bearcats' victory over Harvard, Sparacio won a pivotal bout 2-1 to put the team on the board.
• Trailing 7-3 at 149 pounds, Matt Swanson used a reversal in the first period and a late takedown in the third to come out victorious. His matchup showed strong perseverance as he trailed after each period.
• Following defeats at 157 pounds and 165 pounds, Alex Melikian dominated Harvard's Pierce Bausano, and won via tech. fall early in the third.
• A win for Lou DePrez via forfeit led to an all-important bout between Sam DePrez and the Crimson's Evan Callahan. DePrez started strong, putting together an immediate takedown and ride out in the first. More ride time in the second put him in control, and he was able to come away with a 3-1 decision. His efforts were enough to put away the win.
• Against Brown, Sparacio, Jacob Nolan and L. DePrez each came away with wins, but the team fell in a close one to the Bears. DePrez showed why he is the fifth ranked wrestler in the country, defeating Brown's Brandon Kui (who entered the match at 7-2 on the season) with a 15-3 major.
