Women's Basketball Hosts UMBC in AE Series

Bearcats and Retrievers square off Sunday and Monday at 2 pm on ESPN3

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (0-4, 0-2 AE) dropped a pair of conference games at Stony Brook this past weekend, losing 61-52 on Saturday and 55-47 on Sunday. The Bearcats played the defending champions tough, leading at halftime in both games. Senior forward Kaylee Wasco had a team-best 15-points and eight rebounds in the first game while sophomore guard Denai Bowman had a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds on Sunday.

- Bowman and Wasco rank fourth and fifth in the America East in scoring. Bowman is averaging 13.5 ppg. followed by Wasco with 13.0 ppg. Sophomore forward Clare Traeger is fourth in rebounding (7.5 rpg.) and is tied for third in steals (2.0 spg.). 

- UMBC (1-1, 1-3 AE) split a pair of conference games against visiting Albany this past weekend, losing 66-56 on Saturday before bouncing back with a 61-52 triumph the following day. 

-  Janee'a Summers leads the Retrievers and is ranked seventh in the America East with 12.3 points per game. Julliet Asedah is second with 9.0 rebounds per contest. As a team, UMBC is third in rebounding (36.8 rpg.) and steals (8.5 spg.). 

- Binghamton leads the all-time series against UMBC 25-12, having swept the past six meetings. Last year, the Bearcats won 61-45 at UMBC on Jan. 8 as well as 66-58 at the Events Center on Feb. 26. Binghamton has won six straight home games against the Retrievers.

- Playing in a reserve role last season, Bowman averaged 8.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in a pair of games against UMBC.
