VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton University Wrestling team will make the short trip to Ithaca this Saturday for an early afternoon matchup with No. 17 Cornell. The Bearcats take on the Big Red before their final regular season matchup at Buffalo next weekend.
Notes
- The Bearcats are led by two nationally ranked wrestlers via the InterMat poll. No. 5 Lou DePrez (20-5) and No. 9 Zack Trampe (8-0) are both returning NCAA qualifiers and will look to continue their successes this weekend.
- Trampe is coming off a thrilling victory over Bucknell's Darren Miller and is lined up to take on No. 4 Chas Tucker (25-0) in what should be a marquee matchup.
- DePrez has rounded into form, and continues to dominate EIWA competition. Two weeks ago, American's No. 23 Tanner Harvey gave him a test and DePrez was able to come out with an 8-6 decision. Last weekend, he cruised to an 18-3 tech. fall in the team's opening bout against the Bison.
- Heavyweight Joe Doyle leads the team in dual wins this season after he picked up his ninth victory last weekend over Bucknell's Brandon Stokes. Doyle also has four pins on the season.
- Senior 141-pounder Anthony Sparacio (18-11) has won five of his last six dual matches, including a sudden victory decision last weekend. His 18 wins is second on the team.
- Michael Zarif (157 pounds), Dylan Wood (165) and Alex Melikian (174 pounds) will all make returns to the lineup Saturday, with Zarif and Wood each wrestling up a weight class from their previous bouts.
