VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton University wrestling team will hit the road for a Friday night dual with the University at Buffalo to close out the regular season. The Bearcats fell to No. 22 Cornell 32-8 last weekend and will look to rebound with a win before EIWA Championships on March 6-7.
Notes
- The Bearcats are led by two nationally ranked wrestlers in 184-pounder No. 5 Lou DePrez and 133-pounder No. 8 Zack Trampe.
- DePrez won his seventh straight dual matchup Saturday against Cornell's Jonathan Loew in commanding fashion. His 15-4 major decision was the 15th time he has earned bonus points in his 21 victories.
- Trampe fell in overtime to No. 4 Chas Tucker, who is now 26-0 on the season, but is turning heads in the national polls. He sits at 8-1 on the year and will have another tough test this weekend against No. 20 Derek Spann (17-4).
- Joe Doyle has taken care of business of late, notching his team-best 10th dual victory of the season Saturday. He has won five of his last six dual bouts and is 17-11 on the year.
- Anthony Sparacio continues to be a mainstay in the Bearcats lineup, and despite a loss last week, he is ranked 24th in RPI ranking and will look to use this week as a springboard into EIWA Championships.
- Michael Zarif and Christopher Barker will each make returns to the lineup Friday.
