FARMVILLE, Va. - Host Longwood (3-8) scored six runs in the first three innings and defeated Binghamton (1-7) 7-2 in the middle game of a weekend series Saturday afternoon at Buddy Bolding Stadium.Â
The Lancers extended a 2-0 lead with four runs on five hits in the third inning and the Bearcat bats were silenced in eight of nine frames.
Junior DH
Sam Freedman got BU on the board in the sixth inning with a two-run home run. Senior third baseman
Justin Drpich singled to open the inning and Freedman sent a 3-1 pitch over the wall in right center to make it 6-2. But BU was held to one hit the rest of the way.

Jake Evans had two hits apiece. Longwood outhit the Bearcats 10-7.
Freshman
Douglas Goodwin had the best outing of three Bearcat pitchers. Goodwin worked 3.1 hitless innings with one strikeout. He hasn't allowed a run in his first three collegiate outings (3 hits in 8.0 IP).Â
The teams play the rubber game of their weekend series at noon on Sunday.Â
