Wrestling heads to Lewisburg to take on Bucknell

Bearcats gearing up for final regular season stretch

The Binghamton University wrestling team will head to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania for an early afternoon matchup with Bucknell on Saturday. The Bearcats had a week of practice following a narrow defeat at the hands of American six days ago.
Notes
  • Despite the loss, Binghamton had four victories last weekend, including a dominating pin for No. 10 Zack Trampe in his much anticipated return.
  • Trampe took command early against the Eagles' Josh Vega, and led 10-3 after the first period, with the pin coming moments later. He is now 8-0 on the season.
  • No. 5 Lou DePrez defeated No. 23 Tanner Harvey (NCAA qualifier in 2019) 8-6 at 184 pounds while Joe Doyle (7-1 decision) and Sam DePrez (4-0 decision) picked up wins.
  • Alex Melikian will make his return to the lineup Saturday at 174 pounds. He is coming off a 25-9 tech fall victory in his most recent matchup with Harvard.
  • Last season, the Bearcats defeated the Bison 25-17. The team earned bonus points at 174 and 184 pounds and had six winners, four of which are in the projected lineup for Saturday.

A look at Bucknell
  • The Bison are led by 165 pounder No. 15 Zach Hartman and 197 pounder Drew Phipps. The duo has a combined for over 40 victories on the season and are both returning NCAA qualifiers.
  • Hartman is undefeated in duals this season, while Phipps recently had a 16-bout winning streak snapped at Navy in January.
  • Bucknell sits at 7-4 overall and 6-1 in the EIWA. Their most recent matchup with No. 8 North Carolina resulted in a 25-9 loss, but the team won five straight prior to that.
  • The Bison narrowly lead the all-time series 5-4.
