LEWISBURG, PA. - The Binghamton University wrestling team won four of its opening six bouts to Bucknell, but eventually fell to the Bison 25-13 Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats had four winners on the afternoon, including two matches that were won in the final seconds.
 
Highlights

• No. 5 Lou DePrez opened things up at 184 pounds, and dominated from start to finish over Bucknell's Frankie Guida, Jr. A few late takedowns took DePrez from a major to a tech. fall for a quick five team points. The win is DePrez's 20th of the season and 53rd of his career. 
• Sam DePrez enterned the dual hot, but fell to nationally ranked Drew Phipps, 8-1.
• Heavyweight Joe Doyle opened an early advantage in his bout, and went on to win a 4-2 decision over Brandon Stokes.
• Freshman 125 pounder Carson Sauriol also took on a Bison wrestler who has garnered national recognition, and fell 5-3 despite a near comeback.
• On the subject of comebacks, Zack Trampe recovered from a 5-4 deficit late in the third with Bucknell's Darren Miller to win an 8-6 decision. A takedown and two back points in the closing seconds led to the victory and he remains undefeated (9-0) on the season.
• Three periods weren't enough in the 141-pound matchup, but Anthony Sparacio put together a strong takedown to pick up 6-4 sudden victory win.
• The Bearcats and Bison were tied at 13 after 157 pounds, but Binghamton forfeited at 165 and 174 pounds and Bucknell came away with the dual win.

 
Up Next

• The Bearcats will head to Ithaca next weekend for a matchup with Cornell. The bout is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15.
