Denai Bowman, an America East Preseason All-Conference selection, scored a career-high 23 points to go along with five rebounds, two steals and a block. Fellow junior guard

- Canisius (0-1) lost 102-42 to Buffalo in its season opener on Tuesday night. Erika Joseph and Dani Haskell each led the Golden Griffs with 13 points against the Bulls. During the 2020-21 season, Canisius finished 0-5.
- Binghamton and Canisius meet for the first time since Nov. 25, 2015. The Golden Griffs won that meeting 80-50 at home and hold an 8-2 all-time lead in the series. The last Bearcat win in the series was a 66-50 triumph on Nov. 16, 2010. Since then, however, Canisius has won four straight against Binghamton.
- Bowman's 23 points against Siena was the highest total turned by a player from the America East on opening night. Traeger's 10 rebounds, meanwhile, was the second-highest total.
- The Bearcats are in the midst of a five-game homestand to start the season. It is the longest such homestand during their 21-year NCAA Division I era.
