STORY LINES
- Binghamton begins its 21st season at the NCAA Division I level and as a member of the America East Conference. The Bearcats finished 5-11 (5-9 AE) during the 2020-21 campaign.
- Current junior
Denai Bowman was named first-team all-conference during the 2020-21 season and was also chosen to the America East All-Defensive Team. She ranked fourth in the America East in scoring (12.5 ppg.), third in steals (2.0 spg.), ninth with a .409 field goal percentage, tied for No. 10 in rebounding (5.9 rpg.) and tied for No. 12 in assists (2.4 apg.). Bowman heads into the year as an America East Preseason All-Conference selection.
- Siena finished the 2020-21 season 4-9 (3-8 MAAC). Rayshel Brown is the Saints' top returning scorer, having averaged 10.8 points last year.
- This marks the second time in three seasons that Binghamton and Siena has squared off in the season opener. Most recently, the Bearcats won 89-62 at Siena on Nov. 5, 2019. Heading into Tuesday's game, the Bearcats lead the all-time series 4-3.
- Since
Bethann Shapiro Ord became the Bearcats' coach in 2018, Binghamton has gone 2-1 in season openers. The Bearcats also defeated Charleston 69-62 on Nov. 6, 2018 but lost 69-55 last Dec. 2 to Fairleigh Dickinson. Both of those contests were at the Events Center.
