Men’s Soccer Loses 1-0 to Hartford

Hawks net game winner in 77th minute

VESTAL, N.Y. – Nadav Datner netted a breakaway goal in the 77th minute, lifting Hartford (3-1-0, 3-1-0 AE) to a 1-0 win over Binghamton (2-4-0, 2-4-0 AE) in an America East men's soccer match on Friday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The loss eliminated the Bearcats from the conference tournament playoff race.

Datner took a pass from Jovante Etienne and got through the Bearcat defense. He then shot the ball into the lower-right corner of the net.

Binghamton staged a furious rally in the closing minutes of regulation but was unable to net the equalizing goal. The Bearcats had two shots from close range just go wide of the goal.

"We are disappointed," head coach Paul Marco said. "We had a good game plan going into the match but we didn't create enough opportunities up front today. Give Hartford credit. They were great in the moment that they got the breakaway goal."

This marks the first time during the current season that the Bearcats have been held scoreless. They entered the match averaging 1.80 goals per game.

Hartford finished the match with an 8-5 shot advantage.
