Denai Bowman finished with 16 points, leading Binghamton (4-1) to a 75-72 win over Canisius (1-3) in a non-conference women's basketball game on Sunday afternoon at the Koessler Athletic Center. With the victory, the Bearcats remain off to their best start since going 5-0 to begin the 2019-20 season.
Wanzer, who grew up in the Buffalo area and is a 2021 graduate of Amherst High School, went 7-for-12 from the field and 5-for-8 from beyond the three-point arc. In the process, she hit the most three-point field goals by a Binghamton player in a game so far this season.

Bowman gave the Bearcats the lead at 72-71 on a jumper with 2:53 left to go. She then went 1-for-2 at the free throw line with 1:57 remaining, padding the lead to 73-71.
Sisi Eleko converted a free throw to put Canisius within 73-72 at the 1:15 mark but teammate Vanessa Garrett missed two huge free throws with eight seconds left to go. Bowman grabbed the rebound off the second miss, was fouled and proceeded to hit both free throws with six seconds remaining.
Dani Haskell attempted a three pointer to tie the game at the buzzer but Bowman blocked the shot and Traeger grabbed the rebound to lock up the win.
"Our team really battled today," head coach
Bethann Shapiro Ord said. "It's always tough to win on the road but we didn't panic when we fell behind and we made the defensive stops we needed to at the end of the game."
Fauria finished with eight points off the bench and added three rebounds and a pair of assists. Redshirt freshman guard
Jadyn Weltz dished out a game-high six assists to go along with two points, five rebounds, a block and a pair of steals.
Eleko led Canisius with 17 points, followed by Brooklyn Thrash (16) and Haskell (13).

The Bearcats now head to the Florida Atlantic Thanksgiving Tournament. Binghamton faces the host Owls on Friday at 4 p.m. and Butler the following day at 2 p.m.
