STATESBORO, Ga. – Binghamton (3-2) lost 8-3 to East Tennessee State (1-3) in its final game at the Georgia State/Battle at the Boro Softball Tournament at the GS Complex on Sunday morning. The contest ended the first in-season tournament of the year for the Bearcats.
Freshman outfielder
Alayna Harbaugh went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate. In the process, she becomes the first Binghamton player to record a four-hit game since Stephanie Ragusa vs. Wagner on March 7, 2020. In addition, Harbaugh is the first Bearcat freshman to do such since Caytlin Friis vs. Delaware on Feb. 17, 2012. For the weekend, Harbaugh hit .467 (7-for-15) with three doubles and three stolen bases.
Sophomore pitcher
Allison L'Amoreaux continued her stellar weekend at the plate as she homered for the third time in five games. On the mound, however, she went the first four innings and was tagged with the loss, dropping her record to 2-1. Still, L'Amoreaux finished the weekend with a 2.63 ERA and a team-best .500 batting average. In addition to her three home runs, she belted three doubles, drove in team-high five runs and recorded a 1.250 slugging percentage.
It was L'Amoreaux's homer in the top of the second inning on Sunday against East Tennessee State that put the Bearcats ahead 1-0. After the Bucs tied the game in the bottom of the second inning, senior shortstop
Makayla Alvarez put the Bearcats up 2-1 in the top of the third inning with an RBI single.
From there, however, the Bucs took command of the game, plating two runs in the bottom of the third inning and one run in the fourth inning. Harbaugh trimmed the deficit to 4-3 in the top of the fifth inning when she scored on a steal attempt. The Bucs, however, reeled off four unanswered runs during the rest of the game.
Kelly Warren led East Tennessee State by going 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Allison Farr was the winning pitcher, improving her record to 1-1.
Freshman outfielder
