ITHACA, N.Y. - Cornell (8-18) used a bases loaded hit batter in the bottom of the 10th inning to walk off a 10-9 win over visiting Binghamton (10-21) Wednesday afternoon at Hoy Field.
The Bearcats led 5-0 early and 9-6 in the eighth but the Big Red used a succession of walks to fuel their comeback.
Binghamton snapped a 6-6 tie with three runs in the top of the eighth. Freshman center fielder
Logan Haskell played the go-ahead run with a 1-out sacrifice fly. Junior first baseman
Connor Aoki then belted a 2-run home run for a 9-6 edge. The blast was Aoki's team-high seventh of the season.
But Cornell answered with three in the bottom of the frame to pull even.
After BU stranded a runner in the top of the 10th, the Big Red used back-to-back 1-out walks and an infield single to load the bases before the hit batter ended the game.
Aoki went 2-for-4 with a double and his home run. Haskell had two hits and an RBI and Junior left fielder
Cavan Tully added two hits.
Of BU's seven pitchers, Junior
Dom DiRado was most efficient with 2.0 scoreless innings. DiRado struck out three.
The Bearcats return to conference play with an important weekend series at first-place NJIT, reigning America East champion.
