Women’s Basketball Hosts First-Place Albany

Bearcats and Great Danes Tip Off Wednesday at 7 p.m.

STORY LINES
 
- Binghamton (10-8, 3-2 AE) won 77-68 for its third win in the past four games. Redshirt freshman guard Ella Wanzer - the current America East Rookie of the Week - scored a team-best 23 points. Senior forward Clare Traeger finshed with 15 points and eight rebounds. Redshirt freshman guard Jadyn Weltz turned in a 13-point, seven-rebound performance while sophomore forward Genevieve Coleman added 12 points.
 
- Senior guard Denai Bowman leads the Bearcats and is ninth in the America East with 11.6 points per game. She is also first in steals (2.2 spg.) and fifth in blocks (1.1 bpg.) Traeger is tied for first with 8.5 rebounds per game and Weltz is third with 3.8 assists per game. Wanzer, meanwhile, is No. 10 in scoring (11.4 ppg.).
 
- As a team, the Bearcats are first in the America East in both rebounding (38.1 rpg.) and steals (8.89 spg.). Binghamton is also second in assists (13.50 apg.) and third in scoring (61.2 ppg.).
 
- UAlbany (12-8, 6-0 AE) is the defending America East champion. The Great Danes remained in first place in the conference with a 73-54 win over visiting NJIT on Saturday. Helene Haegerstrand, who ranks second in the America East with 14.8 points per game, poured in a career-high 28 points against the Highlanders. Morgan Haney added 20 points in the victory.
 
- The Great Danes are ranked second in the America East in scoring defense (56.2 ppg.) and are third in blocks (2.30 bpg.).
 
- UAlbany leads the all-time series 46-27. Last season, the Great Danes won 51-42 at the Events Center on Jan. 31 as well as 61-48 at home on Feb. 16. The Bearcats' last win in the series was a 64-52 triumph at home on Feb. 7, 2021. Bowman had 21 points and 13 rebounds in that victory.
