Women’s Basketball Wins 59-45 at New Hampshire

Coleman nets 17 points, Wanzer adds 13 points

DURHAM, N.H. –  Sophomore forward Genevieve Coleman scored 17 points and redshirt freshman guard Ella Wanzer added 13 points, pacing Binghamton (9-7, 2-1 AE) to a 59-45 win over New Hampshire (5-10, 0-3 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Wednesday night at Lundholm Gym. The victory was the second straight conference triumph for the Bearcats, who have now won three out of their past four games.

Coleman shot 8-for-14 from the field and scored 13 of her points in the second half. She also added five rebounds.

Wanzer, meanwhile, drained a team-best three three-point field goals. She also finished with three assists.

The Wildcats dressed only seven players for the game but hung tough with the Bearcats through early in the second half. With 5:48 left to go in the third period, the Bearcats were nursing a 30-28 lead.

From there, however, Binghamton went on a 10-0 run in a stretch of 2:45 to take a 40-28 lead. Coleman had five of her points during that stretch and Wanzer canned a three-point field goal.

Binghamton maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the game and led by as much as 16 points (59-43 with 1:08 remaining).

"New Hampshire was tough," head coach Bethann Shapiro Ord said. "They kept coming at us. But I am so proud of our team and how they pulled together tonight and kept pushing the ball inside."

Senior guard Denai Bowman and freshman guard Camryn Fauria each chipped in seven points. Bowman also had five rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Redshirt freshman guard Jadyn Weltz dished out a game-high six assists to go along with four points and six rebounds.

New Hampshire was led by Brooke Kane with 17 points and Avery O'Connor, who finished with 13 points.

Binghamton held a 34-12 advantage in points in the paint and 17-6 edge in points off of turnovers. The Bearcats as a team also had 17 assists to just 11 turnovers.

The Bearcats host NJIT next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
