Men’s Soccer Loses 3-1 at No. 19 Bryant in AE Semifinals

Bulldogs break match open with a pair of first-half goals

SMITHFIELD, R.I —  Second-seeded Bryant (15-1-2) - ranked No. 19 in the nation - defeated sixth-seeded Binghamton (5-10-3) 3-1 in an America East men's soccer semifinal game on Wednesday night at Beirne Stadium. The loss ended the Bearcats' postseason run in the semifinals for the second season in a row.

The Bulldogs broke the match open with a pair of first-half goals. Adrian Camacho scored off a pass from Pablo Ablanedo in the 24th minute. In the 50th minute, Javier Gandia headed in the ball off a kick by Jonas Lyshoj.

After being awarded a free kick, Inigo Villaldea scored the third goal for Bryant in the 55th minute.

The Bulldogs came into the match having only surrendered four goals all season - but thanks to sophomore midfielder Calvin Moe, the Bearcats were able to get on the scoreboard in the 77th minute. The goal, which was Moe's second of the season - was assisted by senior back Will Noecker.

In goal, graduate student Dylan McDermott recorded four saves.

The Bulldogs out shot the Bearcats 12-2 and held a 7-1 advantage in shots-on-goal.

"I'm very proud of this team and the way they pulled together and had another good playoff run," head coach Paul Marco said. "Bryant is a very good team with a lot of experienced players and they got off to a great start tonight. But I am pleased with the way we kept on competing."

Including tonight's match, Binghamton played six times this season against opponents who were nationally-ranked. This marks the second straight year that the Bearcats have gone up against a ranked opponent in the America East semifinals.
