Women's Basketball Begins AE Tournament at Maine

Bearcats and Black Bears tip-off at 7 p.m. on Wednesday

STORY LINES
 
- Binghamton (13-16, 6-10 AE) will look to avenge a 69-65 loss to Maine at Memorial Gymnasium last Saturday in Orono. The Bearcats will be the No.6 seed, while Maine enters the America East tournament as the No. 3 seed. Jadyn Weltz played all 40 minutes and finished with a career-high 23 points and a career-best 12 rebounds against Maine last weekend. Weltz shot 6-of-12 from the field, was 3-of-6 from three-point range. She also made eight of her 10 free throw attempts. Weltz was named AE Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season on Monday.

Denai Bowman also played the entire game and finished with 17 points. Genevieve Coleman added 13 points and five rebounds.

- Bowman ranks fifth in the America East in scoring (12.9 ppg.) and is also tied for fifth with 1.0 blocks per game. Weltz is first in steals (2.6 spg.) and second in assists (4.2 apg.). Clare Traeger is second with 8.8 rebounds per game. Furthermore, Weltz ranks No. 28 in the nation in steals per game. 

- Wanzer ranks first in the America East in three-point field goals per game (2.4) and second in three-point field goal percentage (.401). In addition, she is ranked No. 38 in the nation in three-point field goal percentage.

- As a team, the Bearcats are first in the America East in steals (8.83 spg.) Binghamton is also second in rebounding (36.3 rpg.), third in assists (12.83 apg.), and fourth in scoring (61.3 ppg.)

- Maine (16-13, 12-5 AE) was led by Adrianna Smith on Saturday. Smith finished with an astonishing 31 points and 19 rebounds. Smith shot 11-of-20 from the floor, and 9-of-11 from the free throw line. 

- Smith is leading the entire stat sheet, holding first in the America East in scoring (18.0 ppg.) and rebounding (9.5 rpg.). She is also second in field goal percentage (.504) and fourth in assists (3.4 apg).

- Maine leads the all-time series against Binghamton 31-15, having won the past six meetings. Maine won the last playoff meeting between the two teams, 78-71, on March 7, 2015 in the America East Quarterfinals.
