Women’s Basketball Opens Season against Pitt-Johnstown

Bearcats and Mountain Hawks Tip Off Monday at 6:07 p.m.

STORY LINES 

- Binghamton begins its 24th season as a NCAA Division program and as a member of the America East Conference. The Bearcats begin their first season since Mary Grimes accepted the head coaching position this past April.

- The Bearcats welcome back nine letterwinners and welcome five newcomers to this year's squad. Redshirt junior guard Jadyn Weltz - who was chosen second-team all-conference last year - has also been named to this season's America East Preseason All-Conference Team. 

- Pitt Johnstown competes on the NCAA Division II level and is a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).  D'wan Shackleford-Vickroy begins her first season at the helm of the Mountain Cats' program.

- Binghamton leads the all-time series against Pitt-Johnstown 4-0 - including 2-0 since it moved up to the NCAA Division I level in 2001. Most recently, the Bearcats won 71-45 at the Events Center on Nov. 16. 2022. 

- The Bearcats have won their past two season openers and have gone 5-1 in such games since the start of the 2018-19 season.
