Allison L'Amoreaux got a 10-inning, complete-game victory and drove in three runs, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the first day of the Winthrop Softball Tournament. The Bearcats (5-2) rallied to beat USC Upstate 4-3 in 10 innings before losing 2-1 to Winthrop in eight innings.
L'Amoreaux struck out a career-high 13 batters and pitched a career-best 10.0 innings to improve her record to 3-0. In the process, she recorded the most strikeouts by a Binghamton pitcher since
Sophia Pappas also struck out 13 batters against Sacred Heart on Feb. 18, 2023.
At the plate, L'Amoreaux had the game-winning RBI on a fielder's choice in the top of the 10
th inning. It marked the third time this season that the Bearcats have won in their final at-bat.
In the nightcap, junior designated player
Brianna Santos led off the game with a home run – but the Eagles got even with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. One inning later, Winthrop secured the walk-off win.
Binghamton continues its stay at Winthrop with games against Monmouth (10 a.m.) and Appalachian State (12:30 p.m.) on Saturday.
