LOWELL, Mass. – Senior pitcher
Allison L'Amoreaux belted a grand slam in the first game and redshirt junior
Shelby Carvalho hit the game-winning homer in the nightcap, lifting Binghamton (27-10, 7-2 AE) to a 4-2, 4-3 sweep over UMass Lowell (8-23, 3-8 AE) in an America East softball doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at River View Field. L'Amoreaux, who was also the winning pitcher in the opener, smacked her grand slam over the right-center field fence with two outs in the top of the third inning. It was her fifth home run of the season and the first grand slam by a Binghamton player since current junior outfielder
Sarah Rende hit one at Bryant on April 15, 2023.
After being held scoreless for 6.2 innings, the River Hawks finally got on the board when Cayla Tulley drilled a two-run home run to slice the deficit in half. L'Amoreaux, however, was able to retire the final batter of the game.

In the nightcap, the Bearcats were down 1-0 but came up with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. The tying run scored on a fielder's choice by redshirt junior outfielder
Lindsey Walter and the go-ahead runs were plated on a two-run double by senior designated player
Alex Musial.
The River Hawks tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Carvalho, however, led off the top of the seventh inning with her team-best seventh home run of the season.
On the mound, junior
Olivia Kennedy went the distance, scattering three runs on six hits and striking out seven batters. Her record is now 7-2.
Ryley White of UMass Lowell struck out 12 batters and allowed only a pair of earned runs. Her record, however, fell to 7-8.
With the win in the second game, Binghamton now has nine come-from-behind victories this season. The Bearcats have also won four times in their final at-bat.
Both L'Amoreaux and Carvalho batted a team-best .333 (2-for-6) in the two games at UMass Lowell.
Binghamton heads to Albany for a three-game series this coming Saturday and Sunday.
