VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis coach
Nick Zieziula was formally inducted into the Buffalo Tennis Hall of Fame in a ceremony held Sunday at Transit Valley Country Club in East Amherst. Zieziula joined 18 other individuals in the Class of 2024.
The Hall of Fame was established in 2005 by founder and president Todd Miller to honor individuals who have earned distinction in the sport of tennis. The home of the BTHOF is the Miller Tennis Center in Williamsville, where Zieziula's plaque will be displayed alongside the other members.
Zieziula's noted accomplishments included his seven combined MUNY/City Open Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles titles won between 2003-05.
It's the second Hall of Fame selection for Zieziula, who also was honored by St. Francis High School in 2013.
'I am deeply grateful for the work that Todd and Debbie Miller have put into the Buffalo Tennis Hall of Fame over the years," Zieziula said. "There is a great and deep rich history of tennis in Buffalo and to be hanging on the wall with these legends is an honor. Many of the names in the Hall played key roles in me developing as a player, coach and person. There are many more names not listed there who helped me along the way as a player and as a coach. I was blessed with an amazing support family and so many guides along the way in my tennis journey. I am grateful to so many who coached me along the way."
A native of Buffalo, Zieziula also earned acclaim as an undergraduate student-athlete at University of Buffalo. He served as captain of the UB team three years and graduated holding Bulls records for career singles wins, career doubles wins as well as single-season singles and doubles wins. He was a Mid-American all-conference selection and received UB's Most Outstanding Player recognition. Zieziula was honored with the UB Service Excellence Award two times, was a member of the Mid-American Conference Academic Team and also won the Coaches Award in 2004.
Zieziula graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Buffalo in 2005. He went on to earn his master's degree in high education administration from the school in 2008.
The honor caps an exceptional school year for Ziuziula, who led his Bearcats team to an NEC title and NCAA berth in the program's first year of membership. The team also achieved a stunning 3.75 GPA and received ITA recognition for its unparalleled community service.
