VESTAL, N.Y. - Coming off the team's hard-earned draw with Monmouth, Binghamton women's soccer will look to extend its unbeaten streak when the Bearcats (1-1-2) face American (1-1-1) Sunday afternoon. The teams clash at 4 p.m. at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md.
Binghamton battled CAA power Monmouth to a 1-1 tie Thursday night at the Bearcats Sports Complex. It was the team's second straight 1-1 result. The game featured a first-half goal from senior forward
Hannah Mimas and two huge late-game saves by sophomore keeper
Rebecca Kessler, including a penalty kick stop with four minutes remaining.
Mimas leads the team with three goals and seven points. Freshman midfielder
Anna Buckwalter has two goals and sophomore midfielder
Paige Luke has a team-best two assists.
Senior
Kaitlyn Williams (1.50 GAA) and Kessler (3.00 GAA) have split time in goal.
American has been idle for nine days following the team's 2-0 upset win over Maryland on Aug. 22. Two second-half goals gave the Eagles one of the program's biggest regular season wins in recent years. The team opened its season with a 1-1 tie against George Washington (which Binghamton beat 3-2) and then lost 1-0 at VMI. American returns its top two scorers from last season and also has a reigning all-conference player in Izzy Kadzban. Goalkeeper Addison Roemer has allowed just two goals in three games (0.67 GAA) and has been called on to make just six saves behind a stout defense.
Binghamton and American have met twice before - both Bearcat victories. Binghamton won 2-1 in 2001 and 3-1 in 2019. Both games were played down in the DMV.
