VESTAL, N.Y. - Women's soccer senior forward
Mackenzie Ryder has been named America East Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Ryder notched a goal and an assist in Binghamton's 2-0 road win at Le Moyne on Sunday. The three-point game was Ryder's highest collegiate output and it marked the second straight game she has tallied a goal.Â
At Le Moyne, Ryder headed home a corner kick from freshman
Anna Buckwalter in the 28th minute to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. In the second half, another Buckwalter corner kick into a dangerous spot was redirected to classmate
Hannah Mimas, who converted for the final 2-0 margin.
"Our program is proud to see Mackenzie get well deserved recognition," head coach
Neel Bhattacharjee said. "This season she has come in more prepared than ever and found a new position to maximize her influence on the game. She has been an attacking threat all season long as evidenced by this past week and we are expecting her to carry that impact as we begin conference play."
Ryder is the second Bearcat to earn a weekly honor from the conference this fall, joining two-time Rookie of the Week selection Buckwalter.Â
