Women’s Basketball Hosts New Hampshire

Bearcats and Wildcats Tip Off Saturday at 2 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Behind a stellar performance from redshirt junior guard Jadyn Weltz, Binghamton (10-6, 2-1 AE) claimed a 69-59 victory over Maine (7-9, 2-1 AE) in their America East home opener Thursday night. Weltz led the Bearcats with 21 points, six assists, five steals, and four rebounds, securing the Bearcats' first win over the Black Bears since the 2019-20 season.

- Including Weltz, Binghamton had four players reach double figures in scoring against Maine. Junior guard Kaia Goode scored 14 points - going 10-of-11 from the free-throw line in the process. Sophomore forward Kendall Bennett recorded a career-high 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and two blocks- shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the field in the process. Yanniah Boyd added 10 points as well. 

- Weltz ranks second in the America East in steals (2.3 spg.), fifth in assists (3.3 apg.) and No. 11 in scoring (10.7 ppg.). Sophomore guard Bella Pucci ranks eighth in the conference with an average of 5.3 rebounds per game.

- As a team, Binghamton leads the conference with 9.06 steals per game. The Bearcats also rank third in both rebounding (35.3 rpg.) and scoring offense (62.7 ppg.). In addition, Binghamton is second in scoring defense (57.8 ppg.). 

- New Hampshire (6-10, 0-3 AE) lost 59-32 at UAlbany on Thursday night. Eva DeChent is the top-scorer for the Wildcats this season, ranking third in the conference with 17.1 points per game. Clara Gomez ranks fourth in the America East in rebounding (7.3 rpg.). Additionally, Maggie Cavanaugh leads New Hampshire in assists (2.9 apg.) and steals (1.9 spg.). 

- As a team, New Hampshire ranks fifth in the America East in rebounding (33.9 rpg.). The Wildcats also place sixth in steals, with an average of 7.3 per contest.

- New Hampshire is led by first year head coach Megan Shoniker. She was an assistant coach at Binghamton during the 2018-19 season. 

- Binghamton leads the all-time series against New Hampshire 31-18. The Bearcats swept both games last season, winning 73-63 at the Events Center on Jan. 25 as well as 65-56 on the road on March 2.
