Women’s Basketball Heads to First-Place UAlbany

Bearcats and Great Danes Tip Off Saturday at 2 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (11-7, 3-2 AE) saw its three-game winning streak snapped in a 55-46 loss to Vermont (9-10, 4-1 AE) on Thursday morning before a program-record 4,627 fans at the Events Center. Redshirt junior guard Jadyn Weltz led the Bearcats with a game-high 15 points. 

- Weltz ranks second in the conference in steals (2.2 spg.), sixth in assists (3.1 apg.) and is tied for ninth in scoring (11.0 ppg.). Sophomore guard Bella Pucci is ninth in the America East with an average of 5.4 rebounds per game.

- As a team, Binghamton leads the conference with 8.8 steals per game. It also leads the America East in rebounding (35.7 rpg.). Additionally, the Bearcats rank second in scoring defense (56.9 ppg.) and third in scoring offense (62.0 ppg.).

- UAlbany (15-3, 5-0 AE) secured a 55-40 road victory over Bryant on Thursday night. Kayla Cooper led the Great Danes with 17 points while Jessica Tomasetti contributed 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Gabriela Falcão recorded a game-best three blocks, and Martina Borrellas notched a game-high three steals.

- Cooper ranks second in the conference with 17.2 points per game. She also ranks third in rebounding (7.3 rpg.), fifth in steals (1.6 spg.) and eighth in assists (2.8 apg.). Falcão, meanwhile, leads the America East in blocks, grabbing 1.6 per game. 

- As a team, UAlbany leads the conference in scoring defense (53.8 ppg.) and also ranks second in scoring offense (65.2 ppg.). The Great Danes are also third in both blocks (3.0 bpg.) and assists (13.2 apg.). 

- UAlbany leads the all time series against Binghamton 50-27. The Great Danes swept both games last season, winning 60-58 at the Events Center on Jan. 13 as well as 60-52 at home on Feb. 8.
