VESTAL, N.Y. – With the start of the 2025-26 season nine days away, the Binghamton wrestling team continued its preparation for the start of the new year by hosting wrestle-offs Friday night at the Events Center.
 
The Bearcats held 14 intrasquad bouts, giving 23 different wrestlers the opportunity to compete against each other. With Binghamton split up into the green and red teams, Team Green ultimately prevailed 34-22.
 
"Wrestle-Offs are tough," said first year Binghamton Head Wrestling Coach Ryan LeBlanc. "You're watching guys wrestle their teammates. There were some surprises, but a lot of things that we've seen. Takeaways, we got to close out periods, we got to finish takedowns, we got to mat-return people. Obviously, you want to see your guys wrestle at a little bit of a pace. Sometimes, that's tough when you're wrestling your teammate. But I liked our effort, I liked our energy, I thought our guys' attitudes were good. We just need to tighten up."
 
Match Notes

• Will Ebert picked up two pins throughout the night. He first pinned John Baker in 1:50, before taking down Quinn Funk in 2:55.
• Deakon Bailey also secured a pin against Kayleb Martin in 2:47.
• Carson Wagner attacked Trey Smith early and often, picking up a 19-4 technical fall in 6:04.
• Carter Baer shut out Bailey 15-0 to register a technical fall in 1:47.
