Women’s Basketball Defeated By No. 6 Michigan

Pucci nets game-high 19 points but Wolverines prevail 120-50

ANN ARBOR, Mich - Sixth-ranked Michigan (4-0) lived up to its national ranking, shooting 66 percent from the floor and defeating Binghamton (2-2) 120-50 in a non-conference women's basketball game on Tuesday night at the Crisler Center. The Wolverines are the highest-ranked opponent that the Bearcats have faced since they traveled to then second-ranked Notre Dame back on Dec. 16, 2018.

Michigan, which defeated then No. 18 Notre Dame 93-54 on Saturday, was 45-of-68 from the field against the Bearcats on Tuesday. The Wolverines were also 11-for-20 from three-point range.

Six Michigan players reached double figures in scoring, led by Olivia Olson and Syla Swords with 15 points apiece. Mia Holloway dished out a game-high eight assists while Te'Yala Delfosse blocked a game-high three shots.

Despite the loss, junior guard Bella Pucci finished with a game-high and season-best 19 points. She was 7-for-13 from the field, 3-for-7 from beyond the three-point arc and converted both of her free throws. For the season, Pucci leads Binghamton with 15.3 points per game.

The Wolverines out rebounded the Bearcats 43-20 and outscored them 66-20 in the paint. In addition, 45 of Michigan's points came off of turnovers.

"Tonight was a great atmosphere and a good experience for our team," head coach Mary Grimes said. "When you take on a team as good as Michigan, you have to be ready to compete right away. Bella had a great game and showed a lot of hustle out there tonight."

Freshman guard Ashley Redd scored seven points off the bench while senior guard Meghan Casey pulled down a team-best six rebounds to go along with five points.

Binghamton travels to Akron on Thursday for a 6 p.m. game
