Women's basketball takes on Colgate Saturday

First time facing the Raiders since 2015

VESTAL, N.Y. - For the first time since 2015, Binghamton women's basketball (6-4) takes on Colgate (4-6) at the Events Center on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip-off.

The Bearcats will look to get back into the win colum after falling to Syracuse on Tuesday night, 74-52. Bella Pucci and Leah Middleton combined for 21 points, Yanniah Boyd had seven rebounds and steals. While Ashley Redd went 3-for-4 from the field on just 11 minutes.

About Colgate

  • Coming off an 88-42 loss to Syracuse on Dec. 10
  • Selected to finish sixth (out of 10) in Patriot League preseason poll
  • Senior guard Anne Bair named to preseason All-Patriot League Team
  • Started the season 4-0, beating AE league opponent UNH 89-79

Rookie of the Week

Carletta Bennett was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. The freshman from Brampton, Ontario provided 10 points on a career best 5-for-6 shooting from the field. She also had three rebounds, a block and a steal in Binghamton's 69-58 win over Marist.

On the National Scale

Out of 359 teams in the nation, the Bearcats rank 39th in turnovers forced per game at 21.50, 47th in steals per game at 11.1 and 66th in free throw percentage at 74.7 and 122nd in scoring 70.5 (all first in the AE).

Pucci Gang

Pucci has started the season off strong, tallying double-digits in scoring in nine of Bing's 10 games played so far. She's currently averaging 14.6 points, which sits sixth in the league with two fewer games. She registered 29 points in a career game against Akron earlier this season.

Bennett's Boards

With 68 total rebounds, Kendall Bennett sits fifth in the conference, averaging 7.6 rebounds per game. She averages the third most offensive rebounds with 2.4 and sixth in defensive boards with 5.7.

Winning the Turnover Battle

The Bearcats have the second-highest turnover margin in the conference, with a 3.20 average. They are forcing a league-high 21.4 turnovers to opponents, while turning the ball over an average of 18.2 a game.

Kaia and Klarissa share the last name Goode, a couple of sisters from Rochester N.Y., who played at Bishop Kearny and have now reunited at Binghamton. Though they are not sisters, Carletta and Kendall share the last name Bennett.
