Women's basketball set for Christmas Classic

Bearcats wrap up 2025 against FDU and Penn/UMES

HACKENSACK, N.J. – Binghamton women's basketball travels to Hackensack, N.J. to play in FDU's Christmas Classic tournament beginning on Monday. The Bearcats will play hosting school FDU at 2 p.m. on Monday and will play either Penn or Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday at 1 or 4 p.m. (result depending).

Last Time Out
The Bearcats got back into the win column with an 82-54 victory over Colgate on Dec. 20 for their seventh victory. Six different Bearcats reached double figures in scoring for the second time this season. Kendall Bennett notched her fourth double-double of the season with a team-high 14 points and 12 rebounds. Binghamton shot above 50% from the field and 40% behind the arc in the victory.

Rookie of the Week
Ashley Redd was named America East Rookie of the Week on Monday. The Porter Ranch, Calif native registered eight points on 3-for-4 shooting on just 11 minutes played against Syracuse. She then followed up with a career-high 12 points on 3-for-5 shooting and making 5-of-6 attempts at the free throw line in a dominant 82-54 win over Colgate.

Redd is the second Bearcat to be named AE Rookie of the Week, joining Carletta Bennett, who was named the recipient during last week's award list. The last time two different Bearcats won back-to-back Rookie of the Week honors was back in January of 2023 (Jadyn Weltz and Ella Wanzer, Jan 16 and 23).
 
On the National Scale
Out of 359 teams in the nation, the Bearcats rank 42nd in turnovers forced per game at 21.27, 50th in steals per game at 11.0 and 112th in scoring with 71.5 (all first in the AE). Binghamton also ranks 48th in free-throw percentage with 75.6. Kendall Bennett sits in the top 50 in the nation in double-doubles with four this season.

With 86 total rebounds, Kendall Bennett sits fifth in the conference, averaging 7.8 rebounds per game. She averages the third most offensive rebounds with 2.5 and sixth in defensive boards with 5.3.
 
Winning the Turnover Battle
The Bearcats have the third-highest turnover margin in the conference, with an average of 3.36. They are forcing a league-high 21.2 turnovers from opponents, while committing an average of 17.8 turnovers per game.
