VESTAL, N.Y. - Senior third baseman
Devan Bade belted a grand slam and drove in six runs and Binghamton baseball (7-8) won its third straight game, 16-5 over visiting Holy Cross (7-9) Friday afternoon at Bearcats Baseball Complex.
Binghamton scored the final 10 runs and ended it early via the 7-inning run rule. The Bearcats did their scoring in bunches, plating three runs in the first and second innings, six runs in the fourth and four final runs in the sixth. After turning a 6-1 deficit into a 6-5 margin in the third inning, Holy Cross was stymied the rest of the way.
Sophomore
Hayden Tarsia worked 4.1 scoreless innings and limited the Crusaders to three hits with eight strikeouts. Freshman lefty
Vincent Luther recorded the final two outs.
Bade had a stellar day, going 4-for-4 with the slam, three runs and a season-best six RBI. He singled in the first inning, hit a 2-run single up the middle in the second, added another single up the middle in the fourth and then capped his day with the blast in the sixth. With two outs and the bases loaded, Bade sent a 2-2 pitch high over the left field wall for his third home run of the season.
Freshman center fielder
Matt Bolton led off the bottom of the first with a home run - his third of the season. He added a two-run single in the fourth and wound up 2-for-4 with three RBI. Senior DH
Evin Sullivan ripped a two-run double to the wall in right center in that 6-run fourth inning and senior catcher
Zach Rogacki went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
