Pucci also chosen to All-Defensive Team, Weltz selected to All-Academic Squad

VESTAL, N.Y. – Redshirt junior guard Jadyn Weltz and sophomore guard Bella Pucci have each been named third-team all-conference by the America East for the 2024-25 season. In addition, Pucci was selected to the America East All-Defensive Team while Weltz also appeared on the conference's All-Academic Team. The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.

Weltz earns all-conference honors for the second year in a row, having been named to the second team last year. This marks her first selection to the America East All-Academic Team. Pucci, meanwhile, earns her first all-conference accolade as well as her first appearance on the All-Defensive Team.

Heading into the postseason, Weltz is tied for seventh in the America East in assists (2.7 apg.), is tied for third in steals (1.8 spg.) and is ranked No. 16 in scoring (9.6 ppg.). In her past two games, Weltz has averaged a team-best 16.0 points per game.

After using a medical redshirt year during the 2021-22 season, Weltz had put together a prolific career at Binghamton. In three full seasons, she has scored 837 points, dished out 342 assists, grabbed 304 rebounds and recorded 175 steals. In her redshirt freshman season (2022-23), Weltz was named to the America East All-Rookie Team as well as the All-Defensive Team.

In the classroom, Weltz is majoring in business administration and carries a 3.73 GPA. She was named to the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team and was also inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society last spring.

After playing a reserve role as a freshman last year, Pucci blossomed into an all-conference starter this season. She is currently tied for eighth in the conference in rebounding (5.4 rpg.), is tied with Weltz for third in steals (1.8 spg.) and is averaging 9.2 points per game.

Against America East opponents this season, Pucci has averaged a team-best 10.4 points per game. In Binghamton's last six games, she has averaged 13.5 points per contest. Pucci is coming off a 16-point effort against UMass Lowell on Saturday.

Pucci has reached double-figures in rebounding a team-best four times this season and has recorded a pair of double-doubles (points-rebounds). Against UAlbany on Feb. 1, Pucci turned in a 13-point, 11-rebound, five-steal performance.

Since joining the America East Conference prior to the 2001-02 academic year, Binghamton has posted 41 all-conference selections, 12 all-defensive picks and nine all-academic honorees.

Binghamton (15-14) is the No. 6 seed in the upcoming America East Tournament. The Bearcats head to No. 3 Bryant for a quarterfinal game on Thursday at 6 pm. It will mark the second straight season that the two teams met in the quarterfinal round, with the Bearcats winning 56-51 last year.
