VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer (1-0) makes its home debut on Thursday when the team hosts St. Bonaventure (0-0-1) at 6:07 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
It's the lone home game sandwiched in-between three road contests to begin the fall slate.
The Bearcats opened their season with a 2-1 road win at Lehigh on Sunday. In that game, sophomore forward
Alexus Worrell snapped a 1-1 tie 3:51 into the second half and the goal stood as the game winner. After the teams traded first half tallies, Binghamton was awarded a penalty kick in the 49th minute after sophomore forward
Jahkaya Davis was taken down after some strong work in the box. The Bearcats banged the PK off the bar but Worrell pounced on the rebound to the left and beat the keeper from five yards for her first collegiate goal. Junior forward
Paige Luke opened the scoring with a 19-yard rifle just 4:46 into the contest. Playing in her first regular season game in 11 months after an injury cut short her 2024 season, Luke wasted no time. She collected a long ball from junior back
Sophia Garofalo in the box and after temporarily losing it, she collected the loose ball and hit a missile into the top left corner. Lehigh tied the game in the 33rd minute, setting the stage for Worrell's game-winner. Binghamton held a 17-10 shots advantage. Sophomore keeper
Rebecca Kessler had to make just three saves.
The Bonnies opened their season with a 1-1 home draw Sunday against Charleston Southern. In that game, Bona was outshot 10-6 and gave up a first-half goal before netting the equalizer on a penalty kick 2:38 into the second half. First-year head coach Melissa Sherwood inherits seven returnees and brings in 17 newcomers this fall. The Bonnies went 2-13-3 last season, including a 1-7-2 mark in the Atlantic-10. The team was picked to finish last in the 14-team A-10 this fall.
The Bona roster features 11 international players from Spain, Brazil, Greece, Italy, Japan, Switzerland and Canada, with eight of those entering the school as graduate students.
Binghamton leads the all-time series 6-4-4. Last fall, the teams played to a 1-1 tie in Olean. The Bearcats are unbeaten in their last six games in the series (3-0-3). The last time they met in Vestal (2019), Binghamton prevailed 2-0.
