Bearcats bring six-game unbeaten streak into 4 p.m. contest in Smithfield, R.I.

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer looks to extend its unbeaten streak when the Bearcats (6-1-2, 1-0 America East) play the first of two straight road games Sunday afternoon at Bryant (3-2-4, 0-0-1 AE). The teams kick off at 4 p.m. at Beirne Stadium in Smithfield, R.I.

Binghamton is off to its best season start in its 25-year Division I history and is riding a six-game unbeaten streak. The Bearcats opened conference play as the preseason co-favorite (with UNH) and earned three important points with a 2-1 home win over UMBC on Sunday. The last two America East regular season champions went through the eight-game slate unbeaten (Maine last season, Binghamton in 2023) so an unbeaten mark is typically needed to capture the top seed.

The tandem of sophomore Jahkaya Davis and junior Paige Luke continue to rank 1-2 in the conference in points. Davis leads the league with six goals and 14 points and Luke leads with five assists and is second with 13 points. Sophomore midfielder and 2024 America East Rookie of the Year Anna Buckwalter is the reigning America East co-Offensive Player of the Week after she netted the game-winner to beat UMBC. In goal, junior Rebecca Kessler ranks second in the conference in goals against average (0.88) and has two shutouts in her last four games.

Bryant is riding a four-game unbeaten streak (2-0-2) and the Bulldogs began conference play last Sunday with a scoreless draw at Vermont. Bryant has allowed just five goals all season and has four straight shutouts, including one at former America East power Boston University two weeks ago. Bryant was picked to finish sixth in the preasson poll after earning a playoff spot with a fifth-place finish last fall.

Binghamton leads the all-time series 5-1-2 and is unbeaten in the last six head-to-head matchups (4-0-2). Last season in Vestal, Lauren Clark and Hannah Mimas tallied second-half goals to pace the Bearcats in a 2-1 comeback win at rain-soaked Bearcats Sports Complex. Trailing at half despite a commanding first period, Binghamton outshot Bryant 23-8 overall and rallied for an important win.
