VESTAL, N.Y. – Jessica McLean of Binghamton women's tennis has been named the first Miller Auto Team Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of August/September.

The Miller Auto Team Student-Athlete of the Month is a new award from Binghamton Athletics that recognizes a student-athlete who produced the best results across all active sports within the given month.

McLean made her presence known in the first month of action this fall. She went 11-2 overall and went undefeated in singles action (7-0).

At the NateRentals.com Binghamton Championships, McLean went 4-0 in the topflight in the singles tournament, defeating the reigning NEC Rookie of the Year and No. 1 seed Sophia Fredericks-McKee.

With her victory, McLean becomes the first player in program history to win the tournament and advance to the ITA Masters Championship, where she will represent Binghamton and the NEC in singles play. The tournament is set to take place from Nov. 5-8 in Rome, Georgia.

The freshman from Pembroke Pines, Fla., would later be named NEC Player and Rookie of the Month to cap off her debut as a Bearcat.
