BURLINGTON, Vt. - With the America East regular-season title and top playoff seed already secured, Binghamton women's soccer (8-3-5, 4-1-3 AE) lost at Vermont (5-5-7, 3-1-4 AE) 1-0 in the regular-season finale Sunday afternoon at Virtue Field.
The Bearcats will now turn their attention to a home semifinal game next Sunday, Nov. 8, when they will face either the Catamounts or UMBC. Tickets for the game can be purchased
here. Prices are $12 for adults and $6 for youths 14 and under.
At Vermont, the Bearcats surrendered a goal in the seventh minute and despite several prime opportunities, couldn't equalize. The final chance occurred with 1:06 left in the contest when freshman midfielder
Lizzie Holstein ripped a 27-yard shot that caromed off the crossbar and straight down onto the goal line. After review, the on-field call of "no goal" stood. It was the second video review that didn't go the Bearcats' way in the closing three minutes. Conference leading scorer
Jahkaya Davis had her feet swept out from under her inside the box with 2:16 left. That review also went in favor of the hosts.
Binghamton held a 14-8 shots advantage, including a commanding 8-1 margin in the second half. The Bearcats added seven corners but ultimately saw their conference unbeaten streak snapped at 21 games (13-0-8). The streak dated back to the 2024 season.
