FAIRFAX, Va. – Looking to pick up a few more matches before the start of the postseason, No. 33 Mikey Squires bolstered his resume by defeating No. 3 Stephen Little of Little Rock at the Patriot Last Chance Open Sunday at George Mason University's Field House.

Squires, who had reentered the national rankings in the InterMat poll last week, ultimately won all three of his matches to improve his overall record to 17-2. Little countered with a reversal at the start of the second, and after an escape from Squires, recorded a takedown to move ahead 5-4. Squires would register an escape before the end of the period to tie the bout at 5 heading into the third. The Bearcat then escaped Little four seconds into the third before successfully defending himself for the final 1:56 to get the win. Squires completed his run by defeating Bloomsburg's Wyatt Bush in a 15-1 major decision, his fifth one of the season.
  • Nadeau first pinned Sacred Heart's Antonio Jimenez in 1:20 for his first fall of the season, advancing to the semifinals in the process. The Bigfork, Mont., native then Lock Haven's Nick Stampoulos 8-5 in sudden victory to reach the finals. Stampoulos entered the tournament ranked No. 33 in The College Wrestling Report's rankings. Finally, Nadeau shut out Northwestern's Ty Wilson 3-0 to complete his undefeated appearance at the tournament.

He followed that by defeating Little Rock's Tyler Harper 9-5 to advance. In his final match, he took down Rocco Hayes of the Cavalier Wrestling Club 2-1 in overtime after he received a point following a penalty called on Hayes.
