Multi-purpose facility will undergo major enhancement with new floor and bleacher systems

VESTAL, N.Y. - Construction is underway on the $10 million Binghamton University Events Center project. Renovation began after Commencement ceremonies and will continue into the fall and early winter months of 2026.

The comprehensive project includes the replacement of the entire event-level surface, six track lanes, basketball court and bleachers. The renovation is the first major upgrade to the surface since the building opened in 2004.

"As we continue to work to provide our student-athletes with the best possible environment to compete at the highest level, this $10 million dollar renovation project is just another example," Director of Athletics Eugene Marshall, Jr. said. "The new bleachers will provide our great fans with better comfort and safety while attending athletics contests and special events. The new track, basketball court, and additional surface will allow for better practicing and contests for our track, basketball, volleyball and wrestling teams in the Events Center. I would like to thank Binghamton University leadership for their support in providing a championship environment for both our coaches and student-athletes to successfully compete in."

During the renovation, most of the arena's event level will be offline, while the mezzanine and concourse levels of the building will remain unaffected.

In the summer and fall, Binghamton's basketball and volleyball teams will work out in the adjacent West Gym. During their fall season, the volleyball team will play home matches at West Gym. The men's and women's basketball teams each will play their first four home games at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena in downtown Binghamton.

Completion of the project is anticipated before America East basketball play begins in early January. Further information on home basketball game ticketing will be forthcoming.
