50th Anniversary of Women's Athletics at Binghamton University
Profile: Holly Brown, Softball Coach, 1996-06
Brief: A native of nearby Spencer-Van Etten, N.Y., Holly Brown coached softball at Binghamton for 11 years, amassing more than 200 wins and steering the program from NCAA Division III to the Division I ranks. She came to Binghamton after a standout playing career at SUNY Cortland and quickly pulled the Colonials alongside her alma mater in the top tier of Division III softball in the country.
After serving as an assistant coach in 1995 when Binghamton went 37-8, won the SUNYAC title and reached the NCAA tournament for the first time, Brown took over the program in 1996. Her next three teams each was ranked among the nation's top-20, including back-to-back No. 11 final rankings and NCAA East Regional runnersup in 1997 and 1998.

Brown was named New York State Coach of the Year in 1997 and New England Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year in 1999. Her 2000 team captured the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championship. She then posted her 200th career win in 2005 with a 3-2 victory over Columbia and finished her career with 225 wins - second-most in program history.
She recruited and coached 32 all-conference and 13 all-region players.
After coaching BU's first five seasons in the America East, Brown transitioned to Campus Recreational Services in 2006, where she now serves as the assistant director of staff development and operations.
