Crystal Muse enters her 11th season as an assistant coach with the Binghamton track & field program in 2024-25. She works primarily with the throwers.
During her tenure at Binghamton, Muse has coached eight America East champions as well as 12 all-conference selections and 25 place winners. Three of her throwers have also earned major awards at the America East Championships.
In Muse's first year at Binghamton (2014-15), Brandon Bordeau was named the Most Outstanding Men's Field Athlete at the America East Outdoor Championships. He won the discus and was second in the shot put. Bordeau also earned all-conference honors during the indoor and outdoor seasons. At the 2018 America East Indoor Championships, Oyin Adewale swept the shot put and weight throw titles and was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer. In 2023, it was Jaston Ormsby who captured the weight throw at the conference indoor meet.
In the summer of 2023, Muse coached Brian Lucciano in the USATF Junior National Meet, where he placed sixth in the hammer. From there, Luciano won the weight throw at the 2024 America East Indoor Championships and was named the meet's Most Outstanding Rookie. He then qualified for the NCAA East Region Meet in the hammer.
A 1995 graduate of Northeastern University, Muse was a 10-time America East champion, having won the hammer throw, weight throw as well as both the indoor and outdoor shot put during her career. She also won the shot put at the ECAC Championships as well as the hammer throw at both ECACs and Penn Relays. Muse was inducted into the Northeastern Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011.
Muse remained with the Northeastern program during the 1995-96 season as an assistant coach. At the same time she began a 12-year career at Info Global Solutions as a senior programmer/consultant. Since 2007, she has been the owner of CMO Consulting.
With Northeastern, Muse coached Theresa Findlay to a fifth-place finish at the 1996 NCAA Indoor Championships in the weight throw as well as a fourth-place performance at the ensuing NCAA outdoor meet in the hammer. It was the first year both events appeared at the NCAA national meets. Â
In both 1992 and 1996 Muse took part in the U.S. Olympic Trials. She was eighth in the hammer throw in 1992 and fourth in 1996.

In 2014, Muse started the Triple Cities Youth Running Club, a program that currently has over 70 participants. She coordinated and coached the team, ran two track meets at Vestal High School and coached eight youth through the Junior Olympic process.
