Devan Newman begins her sixth season at Binghamton University in 2023-24. After three years as an assistant coach, she was elevated to Associate Head Coach in May 2021. Newman has worked alongside the Bearcats' head coach, Bethann Shapiro Ord for the past 14 years.
Newman was an assistant coach on Shaprio Ord's teams the previous seven years at Weber State. During that stretch, the Wildcats recorded a pair of 20-win seasons and advanced to the Women's Basketball Invitational (WBI) twice.
While at Weber State, Newman was a key part of the Wildcats' rise from a struggling program to one that went 57-41 from 2015-18. She developed five players who went on to play professionally after college and was a major part of the program's recruiting efforts.
Newman spent the previous three seasons at Louisville as a graduate assistant in 2008-09 and the Assistant Director of Operations from 2009-11. In her first season, Louisville advanced to the NCAA Championship game. Two years later, the Cardinals made the Sweet 16.
Newman received her master's degree in sport administration from Louisville in June of 2009. She earned her bachelor's degree in business administration, with a concentration in sports business, from the University of Oregon in 2007.
