Evelyn Thompson begins her second season at Binghamton in 2026-27.
Thompson arrived from UMass Lowell, where she was an assistant coach during the 2024-25 season. It marked her second stint with an America East program, having also been the Interim Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Stony Brook from 2009-11.
In between those stops, Thompson was the head coach of the Michigan Crossover AAU Elite Team (2011-13), a consultant for Blue Star Basketball (2013-15), an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech (2015-16) and Tennessee State (2016-17) as well as the head coach at Cleveland State Community College (2017-23) and an assistant at Miami (Ohio) during the 2023-24 season.
Prior to her role at Stony Brook, Thompson was an assistant coach at Arizona State (1990-93), Western Kentucky (1993-94), Buffalo (2002-07) and Michigan State (2007-09).
A 1990 graduate of Auburn, Thompson was a four-year letterwinner with the Tigers and was a part of two SEC championship teams. The Tigers also advanced to the NCAA Tournament twice during her career.
Before Auburn, she spent two years (1986-88) at Northeast Mississippi Community College playing basketball where she was a Kodak All-American in 1988. She also earned All-State and All-Region honors there, and helped the program claim the title of NJCAA National Champions in 1986-87.
Thompson has been inducted into the MACJC Hall of Fame (2018), Northeast Mississippi Community College Hall of Fame (2009), and Georgia Metros AAU Hall of Fame (2006).
