The Binghamton women’s lacrosse team welcomes former Division I lacrosse player Sierra McIver to its Coaching Staff for the 2017-18 season as an Assistant Coach. McIver was a four year starter for the UAlbany women’s lacrosse team as a defender.
 
"We are very excited to have Sierra join the Binghamton Women's Lacrosse staff,” head coach Stephanie Allen said. “Coming off a tremendous senior season and a highlight filled four year career at Albany, Sierra will undoubtedly bring competitiveness and energy to our program. Sierra is very familiar with our team and the America East, so we look forward to getting to work with our defenders knowing what it takes to compete within our conference."
 
Prior to college, the native of Endicott, New York, was involved with athletics her whole life. In high school, McIver played varsity soccer (4 yrs), varsity basketball (5 yrs) and varsity lacrosse (3 yrs). As a freshman at Albany, she received America East All-Rookie honors before earning America East second team her sophomore and junior season. During her senior campaign, she was selected to both America East first team and the America East All-Tournament team as a captain for UAlbany lacrosse. McIver was also selected to play in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Senior Division I All-Star Game this spring.
 
For her career, McIver ranks seventh in Albany’s record book with 46 caused turnovers. She finished with 78 ground balls, 10 draw controls and only allowing 13 turnovers. She graduated from Albany with a bachelor of science in Mathematics and Actuarial Science. In addition to helping with the women’s lacrosse program, she will be attending Binghamton University to attain her masters in mathematics in adolescence education.
