Nicole Pacapelli was hired in February 2020 and begins her third season with the Bearcats in fall 2022.

In her shortened first season during the Spring of 2021, she helped lead the Bearcats to a 6-2-0 overall record.  During the regular season the program finished in a first place tie in their division. In the postseason the Bearcats defeated host UMass-Lowell in the semifinal and then ended their run in the championship game final.  This was the first championship game appearance for the team since 2009.

Pacapelli came from Richmond, where she served as an assistant for the Atlantic 10 member Spiders in 2019. Prior to her year at Richmond, Pacapelli was the head coach and the departments academic coordinator at Queens College for three years and began her coaching career as a graduate assistant at her alma mater, The University of New Haven.

“Nicole possesses an infectious passion and enthusiasm for the game and brings notable experience both as a player and in her coaching stints at Queens College and Richmond," head coach Neel Bhattacharjee said at the time of her hire. "Her values and character match up exactly within our vision for this program and she will be a tremendous asset to all of our student-athletes as our team makes strides in competitive excellence and within our culture.”

A former All-East and All-New England midfielder at University of New Haven, Pacapelli led the Chargers to 31 wins in three years. She served as captain for two years and also was an All-Northeast-10 selection.

After graduating in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics, she remained at New Haven as the program’s lead assistant for two years. A Dean’s List student, Pacapelli earned her MBA with a concentration in sports management from New Haven in 2016.

A native of West Haven, Conn., Pacapelli was a four-year scholastic standout and all-state soccer selection. She then played her freshman season at Stonehill College before transferring to New Haven.

She continued her playing career with the Connecticut Football Club (CFC) Passion of the WPSL.

Pacapelli holds her United States Soccer “D” coaching license as well as her United Soccer Coaches National and Advanced National Diplomas. She was also selected as a member of the 2021 United Soccer Coaches 30 Under 30 Class and the 2020 NCAA WeCoach Academy Class.
