Anthony Sobotker is in his second season as an assistant coach of the Binghamton wrestling team.
A native of North Babylon, N.Y., Sobotker wrestled at Binghamton from 2020-23. In that span, he won 23 matches for the Bearcats. Among his highlights was when he finished seventh at the EIWA Championships in 2021. The following season, Sobotker pinned 11 opponents to rank among the leaders in the country in that category. He would finish seventh at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Wrestling Invitational in December of 2021, and go on to lead the Bearcats in team points that season with 50.
Before Binghamton, Sobotker wrestled at Nassau Community College. In two seasons, Sobotker won 61 of his 70 matches. He took home the 2020 NJCAA Wrestling Eastern A District Championship while being named an honorable mention All-American.
Sobotker also enjoyed success at North Babylon High School. He compiled 168 wins throughout his high school career. On the state level, Sobotker finished second his senior year and third his junior year. Additionally, he made the league finals four times and was a League 5 champion twice. Sobotker was also selected to the All-Long Island Second Team in 2018 and won the Suffolk County Rohan Murphy Inspirational Wrestler of the Year award as a junior.
Aside from coaching, Sobotker is pursuing his master’s degree in public administration at Binghamton.
