VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton athletics has selected Eric Adler to spearhead its broadcast and emerging technology support, the department announced Wednesday. Adler has more than a decade of broadcast technology experience and will serve as the Event Support and Integration Engineer.

A native of Waldwick, New Jersey, Adler comes to the university directly from nearby WSKG Public Telecommunications Council, where he was the director of engineering/IT and broadcast operations. In his 11+ years at WSKG, Adler designed and maintained the evolution of the station's radio and digital television broadcast equipment and managed the organization's computer systems. In the last two years, he also provided strategic direction and leadership.

"We are excited to welcome Eric to our athletics family," Associate Director of Athletics John Hartrick said. "His vast engineering experience along with an engaging personality and problem-solving mentality will be a perfect fit. Eric will help us enhance our growing broadcast presence and lead us into the future of video and other technologies."

Adler will provide support for Binghamton's 100+ annual live streams spanning 10 sports and broadcast on ESPN and other digital networks. In addition, he will maintain and troubleshoot all related equipment and work with vendors and staff to position the athletics department for future technologies and venues.

"I'm excited to work to keep the Bearcats at the forefront of broadcast media technology," Adler said.

He has served the university and Greater Binghamton area in previous positions, including being a chief engineer for the Harpur Radio Workshop and also volunteering as a lighting designer and electrician for the Summer Savoyards theatregroup. Adler is a former board member and co-founder of Triple Cities Makerspace, Inc., a public charity operating a collaborative work space.

Adler earned his associate's degree in broadcasting from Bergen Community College in 2006 and received his bachelor's degree in broadcasting and mass communications from SUNY Oswego in 2008.

He is an active member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers.
