HAMDEN, Conn. -- Senior forward Dwayne Jackson scored 15 second-half points to lift Binghamton (3-2) to a 74-58 win over Quinnipiac (3-3) Monday night from the TD Banknorth Sports Center.

Jackson keyed a 22-9 early second-half run with 11 points and the Bearcats put the defensive clamps on Quinnipiac, holding the hosts without a field goal for 7:23 during the decisive run. In all, the Bobcats managed just six second-half field goals and BU reversed a lopsided rebound deficit in the second half, owning a 22-13 margin after being doubled-up 26-13 in the opening period.

With the Bearcats clinging to a 38-36 lead, Jackson hit a pair of three-pointers in a 1:07 span and then took a charge on the defensive end, sparking the run. In a 6:26 span, Jackson tallied 11 points and when junior guard Malik Alvin nailed a three-pointer with 7:11 left, BU's lead was at 12, 54-42. Binghamton maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Jackson hit 5-of-10 from the floor for 17 points. He drained 3-of-4 three-pointers in the pivotal second half. Junior guard D.J. Rivera, the leading scorer in the America East (20.3 ppg.), also tallied 17 points. Senior forward Reggie Fuller (12 pts.) and Alvin (11 pts.) also reached twin figures.

"The key was they were getting the rebounds and second chances in the first half and we got them in the second," head coach Kevin Broadus said. "We made our shots and also hit our free throws and Dwayne (Jackson) gave us a lift off the bench."

The first half was a see-saw affair, with neither team building a lead of more than four points. Binghamton hit 7-of-11 shots to start the game but only converted 4-of-15 to end the period and Quinnipiac held a 30-29 edge at the break. The first 20 minutes featured 13 lead changes.

Binghamton continues its three-game road swing with a game at Big East members Rutgers Saturday afternoon.
