America East Basketball on ESPN Networks
For the eighth straight season, all Binghamton University men’s and women’s basketball conference games will be available on the ESPN family of networks. The games, produced on each of the nine member institution campuses, will air either on ESPN3 or ESPN+. The AE on ESPN is the home to more than 3,000 games from a variety of sports over the span of a decade.
Tim Heiman is the ESPN play-by-play announcer for both the Binghamton men’s and women’s basketball teams. He was the Bearcats’ women’s basketball play-by-play announcer for four seasons before taking over men’s and women’s calling duties for ESPN in 2019. Previously, Heiman was the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the Binghamton Double-A baseball organization. In addition to his basketball duties, Heiman is the lead play-by-play announcer for BU soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, baseball and softball live streams on ESPN platforms.
On the men's home broadcasts, Heiman will be joined by color analyst
Doug Walsh, a 20+ year veteran of radio and television broadcasting in the Scranton/Wilkes Barre area. He also coached collegiately at Lackawanna College, Keystone College and Marywood University. On the women's side, longtime successful local high school coach
Colleen Jayne will join Heiman. She coached Seton Catholic Central girls to a pair of New York state titles, including the 2017 season which culminated with a NYS Federation crown as well.
ESPN+: ESPN+ gives fans direct-to-consumer subscription streaming access to thousands of additional live events, on-demand content and original programming not available on ESPN’s TV or digital networks. In addition to America East, ESPN+ programming includes thousands of live college sports events – football, basketball, softball, baseball, volleyball, lacrosse and more – from other leading college conferences, including: Atlantic 10, Atlantic Sun, Big South, Conference USA, Horizon League, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Southern, Southland, Summit League, Sun Belt and The Ivy League.
ESPN3: ESPN3 is ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network that delivers thousands of exclusive sports events annually, at no additional cost to fans who access it using their “TV Everywhere” credentials from an affiliated high-speed Internet or video subscription provider.
Both ESPN+ and ESPN3 are accessible through the ESPN App on computers, smartphones, tablets and most major streaming devices, as well as through ESPN.com. All contests not produced for ESPN+ or ESPN3 can be seen on AmericaEast.TV via the Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire and Android TV OTT channels. Additionally, select ESPN+/ESPN3 events will be simulcast on AE.TV for international audiences.
Bearcats Radio Network
Townsquare Media radio stations News Radio 1290 WNBF and Kiss 104.1 FM will again provide live play-by-play coverage of all Binghamton Bearcats basketball games this season. This is the 23rd season men’s games are airing on News Radio 1290 WNBF and the 18th season for the station’s coverage of women’s basketball games. Both stations also have free online links and apps that can be downloaded on IOS and Android devices.
Roger Neel returns for his 24th season as the radio voice of the men’s basketball team. He has been the play-by-play voice of Binghamton basketball since the program elevated to Division II in 1998. Neel is enshrined in four halls of fame, including the Binghamton Athletics Hall of Fame (2022). He has covered high school, collegiate and professional sports throughout the Northeast on radio and television and his voice is one of the most recognizable in Broome County. Neel was the brand manager and sports director at WNBF News Radio 1290 for more than four decades.
He also will serve as host of the
Bearcats Coaches’ Show, a weekly radio show on Mondays throughout the season.
Michael Tricarico begins his first season calling play-by-play for the women’s broadcasts. Tricarico is the director of broadcasting and media relations for the Syracuse Mets, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets. He is a North Syracuse native who graduated from Syracuse University in 2017, where he called Syracuse University events for WAER-FM and WJPZ-FM. He also calls select Bearcat lacrosse games on ESPN platforms and various regional high school events for Spectrum Sports.
