OREM, UTAH -- Visiting Binghamton (10-5) dropped a 80-70 decision to Utah Valley (8-6) Saturday evening at the McKay Center. Binghamton, who is already 3-0 in the America East, has now played its final non-conference opponent of the season.

Utah Valley went on a 13-6 run late in the second half to pull away from Binghamton at 74-63. The Wolverines were led by Ryan Toolson, the nation's fifth leading scorer, who poured in 21 points. Toolson was 10-of-10 from the free throw line. Teammate Justin Baker added 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the floor and Jordan Swarbrick contributed 13 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for Utah Valley.

"Our guys played as hard as they could for 40 minutes," head coach Kevin Broadus said. "Coach Hunsaker has a good team and Toolson is a good player and they played better than us tonight"

Junior guards D.J. Rivera and Emanuel Mayben each scored 17 points for Binghamton.

BU was outrebounded in the game 38-25, and shot only 50 percent from the free throw line.

Utah Valley was able to take a 41-37 lead into half time on the strength of 57 percent shooting from the floor. The Wolverines largest lead of the first half came with 2:09 when they held a 37-31 edge after Binghamton was called for goaltending. Mayben's three point shooting kept Binghamton in the game in the opening period, as he shot 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Utah Valley outrebounded BU 20-12 in the first half while also showing a couple of different zones on the defensive end that proved to slow down the Bearcat offense.

Binghamton will next travel to Albany to resume conference play on Wednesday.
