NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Stephani Church scored the game-winner 2:53 into overtime to lift Binghamton women's soccer (2-1) to a 1-0 road win over Iona Sunday afternoon from Mazzella Field.

Church, who assisted on Friday night's game-winner at Manhattan, picked an opportune time to notch her first collegiate goal. She beat her defender 1-on-1 and slotted a shot into the left corner of the net to end the game early in the first extra session.

Senior keeper Carrie Martin recorded five saves for her second straight shutout. Martin lowered her goals against average to 0.39.

"We struggled to find our rhythm today but the girls kept their composure and kept working," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "We told them that even though it wasn't our best performance, they still have to grind it out and I'm real pleased to see their hard attitude to get it done. We kept pushing the whole 90 minutes and into overtime and they believed they could get that goal. It was a great effort by Stephani (Church) and a great result for our team - a good way to finish up a strong weekend."

Binghamton has now won two in a row heading into the team's home opener Friday at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The tea will host Lafayette at 7 p.m. and then welcome Niagara Sunday afternoon.
