Men’s Soccer Beats New Hampshire 1-0, Stays Unbeaten In AE

Ladeairous nets game winner in 84th minute

VESTAL, N.Y. – Senior back Derrick Ladeairous scored in the 84th minute, leading Binghamton (4-8-0, 2-0-0 AE) to a 1-0 win over New Hampshire (4-6-1, 0-2-0 AE) in an America East men's soccer game on Saturday afternoon before a season-high crowd of 1,735 fans at the Bearcats Sports Complex. With the win, the Bearcats record their second straight shutout win and are 2-0-0 in conference play for the second time in three years.

Ladeairous, who now has a goal and an assist in the past two games, broke free down the right side of the field. He fired a shot from just outside of the box into the upper left corner of the net. It was his first career goal.

"We had a two-on-one coming down the field," Ladeairous said. "But when I got some space, I decided to take the shot. It's a great feeling to get this win."

On defense, the Bearcats recorded their third shutout of the season, due in large part to sophomore goalkeeper Robert Moewes making five saves. The Bearcats were able to hold the Wildcats without a shot on goal during the final five minutes of regulation.

"We are thrilled to start off conference play 2-0," head coach Paul Marco said. "(We played) two very good opponents. Today was a very tight game. Both teams had chances to score goals and both keepers were outstanding."

New Hampshire finished the game with an 8-5 shot advantage.

Up next for Binghamton is a Wednesday game at 7 p.m. on the road against defending America East champion UMBC.
